Construction Worker Dies after Stadium Roof Collapsed in Russia

SKK Peterburgskiy Stadium is Being Reconstructed to Host 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship


A worker died while after a sports complex roof collapsed in Russia’s capital St. Petersburg.

The demolition worker and three others were working on a roof at SKK Peterburgskiy when the structure collapsed prematurely.

Emergency responders who arrived at the scene found the body of the 29-year-old man under the rubble.

The three other employees were alive and were being evaluated by the paramedics.

The stadium, which was opened in 1980, is being reconstructed to host the Ice Hockey World Championship in 2023.
