1 Police Officer was Also Injured in the Gunfight


At least three people were killed in a gunfight between the police and rebels in Indian-administered Kashmir.

According to a report by a police spokesperson, one policeman was also injured in the clashes.

The incident happened at about 5 a.m. Friday, after the authorities intercepted a truck near a toll plaza in Nagrota near the city of Jammu.

Rebels who were riding in the bus are reported to have fired at the officers manning toll plaza.

Three fighters were killed in the gunfight.

The police said a search to check if there might have been a fourth terrorist is ongoing.

Traffic on the main road was temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
