Oakland, California (January 30, 2020) – A man died following a collision between an Amtrak train and a car that occurred on Wednesday night in East Oakland.

The deadly collision happened near 29th Avenue and East 12th Street at about 9 p.m. January 29.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a car and a train collided for unknown reasons.

A man who was the only occupant in the vehicle was trapped inside the car after the crash.

Fire department officials who responded to the incident had to extricate the man from the wreckage.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No additional information about the accident was provided.
