Industry, California (January 22, 2020) – 27-year-old Jeremy Richard Olivas was killed in a fiery car crash that happened on Thursday night, January 9, in Industry.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 10 p.m. on 60 Freeway.
Richard Olivas was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang when a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Promaster van failed to slow down for traffic and rear-ended the Mustang.
As per the CHP report, the Mustang burst into flames after the collision.
The impact of the collision pushed the Ford into a 2006 Honda Odyssey which also caught fire
Jeremy Richard Olivas was trapped inside the burning vehicle but was later extricated by the fire department officials.
Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Mr. Olivas died from inhalation of products of combustion.
The 41-year-old Montebello man who was driving the Honda was taken to a local hospital with severe burns.
42-year-old Kaj Faaborg, who was driving the Dodge, fled the scene on foot but was later arrested.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
