Stratford, California (January 20, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a head-on collision that occurred in Stratford, Kings County, on Monday morning, leaving one person dead.
The fatal car crash was reported at around 2:19 p.m. on Highway 41 just south of 22nd Avenue.
As per a CHP report, a big rig truck and a black BMW SUV collided head-on for unknown reasons. A white SUV then rear-ended the BMW just after the initial crash.
The impact of the crash caused the BMW to catch fire while the truck was damaged and partially submerged in a ditch 60 feet away from the roadway.
Paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed at least one person dead.
Details about the identity of the deceased, and whether there were other injuries sustained in the crash, were not immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
