1 Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Washington Avenue at Grape Street in Escondido


Escondido, California (January 21, 2020) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident that occurred in Escondido on Monday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at Washington Avenue at Grape Street at about 6:30 p.m. January 20.

A 49-year-old man was walking across Washington Avenue and was hit by an eastbound 2007 Kia Spectra sedan.

The pedestrian was injured in the accident and was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he died while undergoing treatment.

The identity of the pedestrian was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

No other information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
