Eight people were killed after a fire broke out at a care home in the Czech Republic, the country’s emergency service confirmed.
The incident happened early Sunday morning in the small town of Vejprty near the border with Germany.
At least thirty-six others sustained burns with several reported to be in critical condition.
Others are receiving treatment for smoke inhalation.
Several ambulances, including two from Germany, responded to the scene.
An investigation to determine the cause of the fire is ongoing.
The country’s prime minister, Andrej Babis, has since sent his condolences to the families of the victims.
