Martinez, California (January 18, 2020) –The California Highway Patrol is investigating a two-car crash that occurred early Thursday morning in Martinez, Contra Costa.

The accident happened on westbound Highway 4 near 680 Freeway at about 5:37 a.m. January 16.

As per a local news report, two vehicles were involved in the collision. However, the manner in which the accident happed was not immediately established.

One person sustained serious injuries to their chest and collar bone and was attended to by the paramedics who responded to the incident.

Towing services were requested at the scene.

No further information about the accident was provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
