Fontana Uber Driver Suspected of Raping Passenger Arrested

Woman Says Uber Driver Raped Her as She Returned Home after Drinking with Friends

Police in Fontana, California, arrested an Uber driver who allegedly raped a passenger while she was returning home after drinking with friends.

Police said the victim reported the incident early Sunday, saying that she had been drinking with her friends Saturday night and then requested a ride from Uber.

The woman told police she passed out in the car and woke up to find the driver having sex with her.

The police report further said that the suspect, identified as Alonso Calle, called police reporting that he had sex with a rider, but she may call alleging that he raped her, though he insisted the sexual act was consensual.

Calle said he had consensual sex with his rider at McDermott Park in Fontana, adding that the woman got angry and claimed she had been raped.

The Uber driver said he left the area and called police. The suspect also acknowledged that his passenger was intoxicated.

Calle was arrested and booked on suspicion of rape, authorities said.
