Texas Man Charged with Murder after Police Say He Crammed Baby in Backpack causing Death

10-Month-Old Baby Dies after Mother’s Boyfriend Allegedly Crammed her in Backpack

Trevor Marquis Rowe, of Lubbock, was arrested and charged for what authorities said is putting a 10-month-old girl in a backpack and leaving her in a car trunk leading to her death.

Rowe was arrested Tuesday night and booked into the Lubbock County Jail on a $2 million bond.

According to Lubbock police, Rowe called 911 Tuesday just before 5 p.m. to report that 10-month-old Marion Jester-Montoya had stopped breathing and that he was stopping his car to perform CPR.

The baby was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to a police report, Rowe, who is the boyfriend to Jester-Montoya’s mother, had earlier picked the child from her mother’s home and left for his job.

The report said Rowe had ‘crammed’ the baby into a backpack and placed her on the front passenger floorboard of his Dodge Charger and went to work.

He returned later to check on the child and found she had freed herself from the backpack. He put her back in the bag and returned to work.

Rowe said he checked on the baby again and found she was lightly crying but breathing. He put the backpack containing the girl inside his trunk and left.

When he returned just before 5 p.m., Rowe said he found the child had stopped breathing.

Rowe was charged with capital murder.
