James Radzik Killed, Helen Scheuplein Arrested after Fatal Claremont Pedestrian Accident on Towne Avenue

1 Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Towne Avenue near Syracuse Drive in Claremont, Los Angeles


Claremont California (January 10, 2020) – A woman has been arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run pedestrian accident that killed 50-year-old James Radzik on Wednesday morning in Claremont, Los Angeles.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 2:30 a.m. January 8, on Towne Avenue near Syracuse Drive.

The authorities said 67-year-old Helen Scheuplein was driving a car on the roadway when she struck James Radzik.

Mr. Radzik was killed in the pedestrian accident.

Scheuplein fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian but was later located and arrested by officers from the Claremont Police Department on Thursday.

Scheuplein was booked into the Claremont Police Department Jail on charges of DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter.
