Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Says She is ‘Cancer Free’ after Treatment

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Announces She is ‘Cancer Free’

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she is ‘cancer free’ while speaking in an interview with a local news source this week.

The 86-year-old judge underwent treatment for a malignant tumor on her pancreas last August. After the treatment, the Supreme Court released a statement saying that the tumor was treated, and there was no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body, and no further treatment was necessary.

On Tuesday this week, Ginsburg confirmed that the treatment was successful and marked her fourth time battling and beating cancer.

In 1999, she was treated for colon cancer, in 2009, she had surgery for early pancreatic cancer, and in 2018, doctors discovered cancerous nodules in her lungs.

Ginsburg, the high court’s oldest member, said she will continue serving as long as she is healthy and mentally agile.
