Emiliano Hernandez Killed in Car Accident at Cottonwood Road and Pacheco Road in Bakersfield, Evaristo Nunez Arrested


Bakersfield, California (January 9, 2020) – The Kern County Coroner’s office has disclosed the identity of a 9-year-old boy who was killed in a car accident on Tuesday in Southeast Bakersfield.

The deadly collision happened at the intersection of Cottonwood Road and East Pacheco Road at about 3:30 a.m. January 7.

A pickup truck is reported to have pulled out in front of another car, causing the two vehicles to collision.

The pickup truck driver, 32-year-old Evaristo Perez Nunez, fled the scene on foot but was later arrested.

He faces multiple charges including resisting arrest, driving without license and felony hit-and-run causing serious injury.

9-year-old Emiliano Hernandez and three other children were injured in the accident and were taken to Valley Children’s Hospital.

Sadly, Hernandez succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
