Fairfield, California (January 8, 2020) – A man died following a pedestrian accident that happened on Tuesday morning in Fairfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near the intersection of Air Base Parkway and North Texas Street at about 6:40 a.m.

49-year-old Walter Ashurst was reportedly walking in the area and was hit by a car.

Ashurst was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to a local hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Information about the motorist was not immediately provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
