Winton, California (January 6, 2019) – 59-year-old and Carmen Ramirez and 18-year-old Ruben Alvarez
were injured in a two-car accident in Winton, Merced, on Monday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 11:55 a.m. at the intersection of North Winton Way and Mercedes Avenue.
The authorities said Alvarez was driving a
1999 Honda Civic eastbound on Mercedes Avenue when he failed to yield the
right-of-way to a northbound box truck driven by Ramirez.
Both vehicles collided with the impact of the
crash sending both cars off the roadway and into the front lawn of a nearby
Ramirez was taken to Mercy Medical Center for
treatment of minor injuries while Alvarez was rushed to Modesto Memorial
Hospital with major injuries.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
