Woman Injured in Santa Maria Car Accident at Cook Street and Pine Street; Juan Najera Arrested


Santa Maria, California (January 5, 2020) – A pregnant woman was injured in a suspected DUI car accident on Saturday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at Cook Street and Pine Street at about 11:30 p.m. January 4.

The authorities said 25-year-old Juan Najera Santos of Santa Maria was driving a car when he ran a red light and collided with a car occupied by the woman.

The woman was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center.

Santos was arrested on suspicion off DUI and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
