1 Killed in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident on Main Street in Manteca


Manteca, California (January 6, 2020) – A driver has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run bicycle accident that occurred on Sunday night in Manteca.

The accident happened in the 1100 block of South Main Street at about 11:15 p.m. January 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A man was riding a bicycle in the area and was hit by a car driven by 36-year-old Robert James.

The unidentified bicyclist was killed in the accident.

James fled the scene after accident but was later arrested on charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run.

No other information was provided.                              

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
