Bakersfield, California (January 1, 2020) – A motorcyclist was injured after colliding with an SUV in Bakersfield on Tuesday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident happened in the 200 block of Coffee Road near Gosford Road and Stockdale Highway at about 5:35 p.m. December 31.

A man was reportedly riding a motorcycle in the area when he collided with an SUV for unknown reasons.

The unidentified man was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment in critical condition.

40-year-old Trumonikia Fields-Johnson who was driving the SUV fled the scene but was later arrested after abandoning the vehicle near the scene.

No other information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
