Nicholas Whittlesey Hit and Seriously Injured on Newtown Road near Highway 49 in Nevada City


Nevada City, California (December 31, 2019) – A man was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident that happened on Sunday evening in Nevada City.

The pedestrian accident happened at about 6:20 p.m. on Newtown Road near Highway 49, according to the California Highway Patrol.

70-year-old Nicholas Whittlesey of Grass Valley was crossing the street when he was hit by a GMC pickup driven by 52-year-old Jeffrey Scott Baumgartner.

Whittlesey sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center in critical condition.

The authorities ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the accident.

Baumgartner was not cited.
