Maria Nieves-Lopez Killed in Collision Involving Tesla at Artesia Boulevard and Vermont Avenue


Gardena, California (December 30, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identities of a man and a woman who were killed in a traffic collision involving a Tesla at an intersection in Gardena early Sunday morning.

According to a local news source, the accident happened at about 12:39 a.m. December 29, in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol said a speeding Tesla ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a westbound Honda Civic.

The authorities said 40-year-old Gilberto Alcazar-Lopez of Rancho Dominguez and 39-year-old Maria Nieves-Lopez of Lynwood were killed in the accident.

A man and a woman were injured in the accident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
