6 Decomposed Bodies on Shipping Boat Wash Up to the Shore of Sado Island

The Nationalities of the Victims were Not Immediately Established

The Japanese coastguard has recovered seven decomposed bodies from a suspected North Korean fishing boat that washed up on a Japanese island on Sunday.

A coastguard official said the bodies were found on the shore of Sado Island, approximately 900 kilometers from North Korea.

Five of the bodies were identified as men while one could not be immediately identified.

Although the nationalities of those on board the vessel, which was broken in half, was not immediately established, the authorities said Korean alphabet and numbers were painted on the boat’s wooden hull.

The Japanese police and coastguard are investigating the incident.
