Chico, California (December 28, 2019) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train early Friday morning in Chico, the authorities said

The tragic accident was reported at about 3 a.m. December 27 on the train tracks near West 7th Street.

The train was headed to Vancouver from Los Angeles when the accident happened.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were 394 pedestrians on board the train and none was injured.

The name of the deceased was not immediately released pending notification of the family.

The detectives are investigating the cause of the accident.
