Gardena, California (December 26, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of an 18-year-old man who was killed in a car crash that left one other person seriously injured in Gardena on Sunday morning.
According to a local news source, the fatal traffic collision occurred in the area of West Artesia Boulevard and Normandie Avenue at about 6:02 a.m. December 22.
The California Highway Patrol said a black Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was traveling eastbound when it rear-ended a gray Honda Civic for unknown reasons.
A passenger in the Honda, who was later identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office as Bailey Reyna, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second occupant of the Honda was hospitalized in unknown condition.
24-year-old Jonathan Salazar of Vista who was driving the Mitsubishi was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
