11 Killed after Typhoon Phanfone Made Landfall in Central Philippines

The Authorities Said Dozens are Still Missing and Rescue Operation is Ongoing


At least eleven people were killed after a typhoon hit central Philippines on Christmas Day, local media reported.

Typhoon Phanfone that made seven landfalls before heading to the South China Sea left several islands in the country severely flooded.

As per the report, dozens are still missing after the chaotic floods. An operation to rescue thousands who were stranded at shuttered ports is underway.

The Office of Civil Defense said one person died in the province of Biliran, two died in the province of Leyte and eight were killed in Iloilo and Capiz.
