Gilroy, California (December 22, 2019) – One person was killed in a traffic collision involving a big rig in Gilroy on Saturday night.
According to a local news source, the deadly collision occurred at about 10 p.m. December 21, on Highway 152 near Bloomfield Avenue.
The California Highway Patrol said a Jaguar was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when it drifted into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a GMC van before it slammed into a big rig.
The Jaguar reportedly caught fire after the collision.
The unidentified driver of the big rig was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the GMC van was extricated before being transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
The driver of the big rig was unhurt.
No other information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
