Stockton, California (December 20, 2019) – The woman who died four days after Stockton rear-end collision that claimed her son’s life on Saturday night has been identified as 23-year-old Kalesha Johnson, according to authorities.
The fatal collision happened on 5 Freeway near Charter Way, a while after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, December 14.
Officials said a San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputy cruiser crashed into Johnson’s sedan for reasons still under investigation. The force of the collision caused Kalesha to lose control of her vehicle and slide down an embankment.
A baby boy identified as 1-year-old Kevin Hart was riding in the sedan’s back seat at the time of the crash. The boy suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a children’s center where he was pronounced dead. The woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to the hospital where she died four days after. The deputy was taken to the hospital and released.
Officials did not believe alcohol or drugs to have played a role in the collision.
