Fontana, California (December 20, 2019) – Seven people, including four children, were injured Wednesday night in a traffic accident involving two vehicles at an intersection in Fontana, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 18 at the intersection of Ceres and Citrus Avenues.
Authorities said a Fontana School Police officer was trying to make a vehicle stop of a Honda, but the driver, described as an adult male, continued and sped away, traveling westbound on Ceres Avenue.
The Honda then ran a red light at the intersection at Citrus Avenue and hit a mini-SUV that was traveling southbound on Citrus Avenue.
A family of six persons was riding in the Mini-SUV. The six people, including four children, were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One male adult sustained a broken leg as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Honda was also taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
Authorities later affirmed that the Honda was stolen. The Honda driver is expected to face charges.
The accident remains under investigation.
