Wedding Crashers Beat Groom to Death during Reception, California Police Say

2 Brothers Beat Groom to Death during Reception at Chino Home

The Chino Police Department in California says a groom is dead after he was beaten by two wedding crashers Sunday.

Police believe that Brothers Rony Castaneda Ramirez, 28, and Josue Castaneda Ramirez, 19, were involved in the killing of Joe Melgoza, 30, that happened just hours after he tied the knot.

Chino police responded to the 13200 block of 17th Street at around 2:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a fight at a home. They arrived to find a wedding crowd with two battery victims with minor injuries.

A possible third victim was missing.

The officers searched the neighborhood and found Melgoza in the backyard of a nearby home with grave injuries.

The victim was transported to Chino Valley Medical Center for treatment but, sadly, died of his injuries.

Police arrested the two brothers the next afternoon at a home in the 5800 block of Chino Avenue.

According to Melgoza’s brother, Andy Velasquez, Melgoza was trying to protect guests from the wedding crashers when they attacked him.
