Teen ‘Kidnapped’ in New York City Staged Hoax to Get Away from Strict Mother

New York City Teen Says She Faked Kidnapping to Get Away from Strict Mom

Authorities say the girl who was seen in a surveillance video being dragged into a car in front of her mother on a New York Street faked the kidnap.

16-year-old Karol Sanchez admitted to authorities that she fabricated her abduction to get away from her “overprotective” mother.

Sanchez was found safe Tuesday at about 2:30 p.m. after she turned up on Eagle Avenue near East 156th Street, where she was snatched Monday.

The Monday incident prompted an Amber Alert and attracted widespread media attention.

Authorities did not confirm if Sanchez and the men involved in the Monday hoax will face charges.
