17 Hacked to Death by Suspected ADF Fighters in DR Congo

ADF Has Been Blamed for a String of Massacres in the Region


At least 17 people were hacked to death by suspected rebel fighters in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Local authorities said the deadly attack happened on Thursday afternoon in Mantumbi village near the city of Oicha.

The attackers are reported to have killed three people in Kolokoko on Thursday morning before attacking villagers in Mantumbi, killing fourteen others. Dozens have since fled the villages.

The attack is believed to have been conducted by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a group blamed a string of massacres in the region.

The security forces were deployed to the villages to assist in removing the bodies of the victims.
