The US Navy has seized components used to make advanced missiles from a boat in the Arabian Sea.
According to a statement released by the Pentagon on Wednesday, the confiscated the components are believed to be linked to Iran.
The Pentagon said a US Navy warship found “advanced missile components” on a stateless boat. An initial investigation indicated that the parts were of Iranian origin.
Although the Pentagon promised to conduct a more thorough investigation, it said it believes the weapons were bound for Iran-aligned Houthi fighters in Yemen.
The crew of the small boat was detained and handed to the Yemeni Coast Guard while the US Navy retained the weapons.
