Man Killed in San Luis Obispo Car Crash on Highway 227 near Patchett Road


San Luis Obispo, California (December 2, 2019) – 72-year-old Terry has been identified as the man who was killed in a head-on collision on Sunday evening in San Luis Obispo, the authorities said.

The fatal accident took place on Highway 227, just south of Patchett Road at around 6:00 p.m., December 1.

According to the CHP, 26-year-old Chelsea Stiles of Arroyo Grande was driving a GMC Yukon northbound on Highway 227 when she allowed her vehicle to drift into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a southbound 2013 Honda driven by Tilson.

The impact of the crash caused the Honda to spin out of the roadway.

Tilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stiles and her 18-month-old girl passenger sustained moderate injuries and were taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Stiles was later arrested for reckless driving and on suspicion of DUI.

No further information regarding the crash was provided.

The accident remains under investigation.
