Woman Shot, Man Surrenders in Norwalk Home During Domestic Dispute Wednesday

Woman Hospitalized with Gunshot Wound, Man Surrenders after Barricade in Norwalk


A woman was hospitalized after being shot Wednesday evening, and the suspect surrendered to police after he barricaded himself inside a house for hours.

The Norwalk shooting incident happened at about 6:49 p.m. in the 14500 block of Carmenita Road. Deputies responded to the scene after a report of a domestic disturbance.

Sheriff’s deputies asked residents to stay inside their homes and avoid the area altogether as they negotiated with the suspect, a man, who barricaded himself inside a house.

A woman and her two children were evacuated from the house. The woman was hospitalized at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound in one of her legs. The two children were not hurt in the incident.

Deputies said the suspect emerged from the home after about 3 hours and surrendered without incident.

The Sheriff’s SWAT team, a Special Enforcement Bureau team, and a crisis negotiator were at the scene when the suspect surrendered.

The suspect’s identity was not mentioned.
