Cristina Navarro Arrested after Fatal Monterey Park Pedestrian Accident at Atlantic Boulevard and Newmark Avenue


Monterey Park, California (November 27, 2019) – 63-year-old Cristina Navarro of Montebello was arrested in connection with a fatal pedestrian accident involving a skateboarder last week on Monday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 9:20 p.m. November 18, in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Newmark Avenue.

As per the report, 14-year-old Joshua Madrid was skateboarding near the intersection when a minivan driven by Navarro struck him.

Madrid sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Navarro reportedly fled the scene after the accident but was later located and arrested. She was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run driving and vehicular manslaughter.

No further information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
