El Monte, California (November 17, 2019) – A motorcyclist and a driver were killed in a traffic collision early Sunday morning in El Monte.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened in the westbound lanes of the 10 freeway near Valley Boulevard at around 5:20 a.m.
The authorities said a 2003 Acura driven by a 52-year-old West Covina man crashed into the center median before coming to a stop on sideways across the fast lanes.
An approaching 2019 Ford Transit then struck the Acura before coming to a stop in the fast lane where it was hit by the Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 25-year-old West Covina man.
The Acura driver was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact of the crash.
The Acura was also hit by a westbound 2007 Mercedes-Benz E350.
A 2002 Chevrolet S-10 and a 2017 Honda Civic were also involved in the accident.
The police said the rider and the driver of the Acura died at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Transit was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The names of the victims were not released pending notification of next-of-kin.
No one was arrested following the incident.
The authorities are
investigating the accident.
