Eloy Torres Injured in Bicycle Accident on South Avenue at Houghton Avenue in Corning


Corning, California (November 15, 2019) – 41-year-old Eloy Torres was identified as the bicyclist who was hit and seriously injured by a car in Corning on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on South Avenue at Houghton Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. November 13.

CHP said Torres was riding a bicycle eastbound along South Avenue when he was struck by a 2006 Acura MDX driven by 53-year-old Thong Baingern.

The impact of the collision ejected the bicyclist from his bike.

Torres sustained serious injuries and was taken to Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment.

Baingern and her passenger, 64-year-old Pope Khemvisay, were uninjured.

No further information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
