Perris, California (November 14, 2019) – 53-year-old Rogelio Merlan has been identified as the man who
died in a pedestrian accident in Perris on Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the
accident happened at about 7 p.m. November 9, on San Jacinto Avenue.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said 27-year-old Lizbet Diaz was driving a car eastbound at a high rate of speed when she struck two parked vehicles before hitting Merlan.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Diaz was transported to Riverside University Medical Center
in Moreno Valley after sustaining minor injuries. However, she was
later arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and hit-and-run resulting
