Vallejo, California (November 13, 2019) – 29-year-old Alton Butler has been identified as a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Sunday morning, November 10, in Vallejo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at about 12:08 a.m. on State Highway 37 at the Fairgrounds Drive off-ramp.
CHP said Butler was driving a Nissan Altima westbound on the highway when he crashed into a wall along the right side of the road. The Nissan came to rest partially in the fast lane of westbound SR 37.
Butler started walking across the highway when a westbound Jeep struck him.
A Honda Civic traveling westbound then swerved to avoid the striking the Jeep but crashed into the wall.
Butler was killed in the accident.
The Honda driver was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Heart with minor injuries while the Jeep driver was unhurt.
No further information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
