Suicide Bomber Dies in Attack Targeting Police Headquarters


Indonesian police officers were injured in a suspected suicide bombing that occurred outside a police headquarters in the Indonesian city of Medan in North Sumatra.

According to a report by a North Sumatra police spokesman, the incident happened at 8:40 a.m, (0140 GMT) on Wednesday. The bomber died and some officers were wounded in the blast.

The attack happened in a car park near an area where several people were queuing to get police clearance.

The motive of the attack was not immediately established. However, the country has recently experienced a rise in homegrown militancy characterized by several attacks targeting the police.
