Douglas Denton Killed in Car Crash on 5 Freeway near Hilltop Drive in Redding


Redding, California (November 12, 2019) – The Shasta County Coroner has disclosed the identity of a man who was killed in a car accident in Redding last week on Wednesday.

According to a local news source, the deadly collision occurred on Interstate 5 Freeway near the Hilltop Drive overcrossing at about 9:45 a.m. November 6.

The California Highway Patrol said 78-year-old Douglas Nelson Denton was driving an SUV when he careened off an embankment and collided with a silver pickup truck driven by Robert Daniel Jr.

Denton was killed in the accident.

Daniel Jr. and his passenger were unhurt.

Redding police are investigating the cause of the accident.
