David Castillo Struck, Killed by Vehicle on Highway 62 at Lanning Lane in Morongo Valley


Morongo Valley, California (November 12, 2019) – 64-year-old David Castillo was identified as the pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening in Morongo Valley, according to the authorities.

The fatal accident was reported at around 6:50 p.m. November 9, on Highway 62 at Lanning Lane.

Kalliope Bolanis, 63, of Joshua Tree, was driving a 2001 Toyota Avalon eastbound on Highway 62 when she reportedly struck Castillo who was crossing the highway.

Castillo was returning home from Country Market when he was hit by the car.

Castillo died at the scene.

Bolanis suffered serious injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

No further information concerning the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
