1 Seriously Hurt in Oakland Car Accident on I-580 near Harrison Street


Oakland, California (November 11, 2019) – The CHP is investigating a traffic accident that happened on Monday morning in Oakland, leaving one person seriously injured.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m. November 11, on Interstate 580 Freeway near Harrison Street off-ramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai sedan was traveling eastbound on the freeway when it crashed into a trailer that came off a pickup truck that had been pulling it.

Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated one person who was trapped inside the Honda after the crash.

The police said the person was hospitalized in critical condition.

The name of the victim was not immediately disclosed.

All lanes of the 580 Freeway were closed after the crash to allow the authorities to clear the scene. An investigation into the accident is underway
