Chowchilla, California (November 10, 2019) – A 15-year-old girl was killed in a car
accident in Chowchilla on Friday night, according to the California Highway
Patrol.
The fatal car crash
happened on Ventura Avenue at 5th Street at an unspecified time.
CHP said 24-year-old
Marcos Torres was driving a car when he run a red light at the intersection and
slammed into a second car.
The teenage passenger of
the second car identified as Jaycee Willet was seriously injured in the accident
and was transported to the hospital where she later died.
Torres was later
arrested and booked into the Madera County jail on charges of DUI and vehicular
manslaughter while under the influence.
No further information
was provided.
An investigation to
determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
