Moreno Valley, California (October 31, 2019) – One of the two pedestrians who were struck and killed by a car on Friday morning, October 18, has been identified as 39-year-old Pedro Cortes Rodriguez.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the parking lot of El Rodeo Restaurant shortly after 2:00 a.m.
Rodriguez and 29-year-old Junior Rafael Gonzalez were struck by a black Ford F-150 pick-up in the parking lot of El Rodeo Restaurant.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene while Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital at around on Sunday, October 27.
The motorist, 20-year-old Edgar Gomez, fled the scene after the accident but was later arrested on Tuesday, October 22, on suspicion of second-degree murder, hit-and-run causing death and assault with a deadly weapon.
Gomez was booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
The accident is under investigation.
