Del Mar, California (October 30, 2019) – A 76-year-old man died in a multi-vehicle collision in Del
Mar on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on Camino Del Mar near
Del Mar Heights Road at about 4 p.m., October 28.
A 76-year-old man was driving a Honda CRV
northbound on Camino Del Mar when he drifted into the southbound side and
collided head-on with an oncoming sedan after sideswiping an SUV.
The unidentified driver of the SUV was
pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers in the sedan, ages 28 and 27,
suffered serious injuries in the accident and were rushed to Scripps La Jolla
Hospital for treatment.
Camino Del Mar was closed as the authorities
examined the scene.
The authorities are investigating the cause of
the accident.
