(October 28, 2019) – Three people were killed after a car was struck by an
Amtrak train at a crossing in Richmond on Monday morning.
The accident happened at about 12:08 a.m. at a railroad
crossing in the area of Brookside Drive and Giant Road.
According to a statement by Union Pacific, a car was crossing
the railroad when it was struck by a northbound No. 14 Coast Starlight.
Three occupants of the car were killed in the collision.
None of the occupants of the train were injured in the accident.
No further information was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
