Rolando Garcia Arrested after Crash that Killed 2 Horses and Injured 2 Riders at Foothill Boulevard and Wheatland Avenue in Lake View Terrace


Lake View Terrace, California (October 26, 2019) – Two horse riders who were injured in a collision that killed two horses in Lake View Terrace, Los Angeles, on Friday night have been identified.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the accident happened at about 10 p.m. October 25, at Foothill Boulevard and Wheatland Avenue.

32-year-old Rolando Garcia was reportedly driving a van on the roadway when he crashed into two horses ridden by a husband and a wife.

The vehicle continued and crashed into a wall.

The two victims, identified as Alejandra Nieves and Leopoldo Solorio, were seriously injured and were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Both horses were killed in the crash.

Garcia reportedly abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene on foot before he was apprehended. He was taken into custody on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

No further information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
