1 Killed and 4 Injured in Head-On Collision on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz County, California (October 24, 2019) – A 30-year-old man was killed in a head-on collision that occurred on Wednesday night in Santa Cruz, leaving four other people with serious injuries.

The CHP said the accident happened at about 11:35 p.m. October 23, on Highway 1 south of Vista Point.

The collision involved a Dodge driven by a 30-year-old Greenfield resident and a 2006 Ford Mustang driven by a 35-year-old East Palo Alto man.

The Dodge was reportedly speeding northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 1 when it collided with an oncoming Ford Mustang.

The Dodge driver suffered life-threatening injuries and he was rushed to Watsonville Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Two Greenfield women ages 25 and 27, who were passengers in Dodge, sustained major injuries and were taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas for treatment.

The Ford driver and his passenger, a 47-year-old Watsonville man, were transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

The names of the victims were not immediately revealed.

Southbound lanes of the highway were closed for over three hours following the incident

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.

Wrongful death and personal injury attorney Arin Khodaverdian, President and Managing Partner of Alpine Law Group, urges accidents victims and their families to immediately seek legal assistance. “Those who are affected by tragedy have rights, but they must act quickly in order to preserve those rights to the full extent of the law. Often, swift action by an experienced attorney is imperative in order to preserve evidence, interview witnesses and immediately begin pursuing any and all responsible parties.”

While Mr. Khodaverdian does not represent any of the parties involved in this incident, he has recovered over $100 million for thousands of injury victims and their families. “In one case, we were able to recover a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim killed by a negligent driver. While this result is atypical and does not predict future outcomes, justice in this case help bring about closure and a swift sense of justice for the family.”
