Santa Rosa, California (October 22, 2019) – Juanmin Liao, 58, of Santa Rosa, has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Friday afternoon in Santa Rosa.
According to a police report, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. October 18, in the area of Cleveland Avenue and State Farm Drive.
A red Lexus driven by 18-year-old Jacob Elias Elliot of Santa Rosa was traveling eastbound on State Farm Drive. At the same time, a Subaru driven by Deyvi Javier Pineda Arita, 20, of Santa Rosa, was traveling southbound on the slow lane of Cleveland Avenue.
The two vehicles are reported to have collided for unknown reasons.
The impact of the collision sent the Subaru off the roadway and into a sidewalk where it struck Liao before crashing into a building.
Liao was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Arita was injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment in unknown condition.
The police said both drivers stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
No further information was provided.
The accident is under investigation.
