Newark, California (October 23, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car in Newark last week Friday.

According to a local news source, the accident happened at about 7:15 p.m. October 18, on Thornton Avenue near Peachtree Avenue.

64-year-old Jean Schweitzer was walking in the area when she was hit by a car.

The paramedics responded to the incident and performed CPR on the injured woman.

Sadly, Schweitzer died at the scene.

No further information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
